Working families struggling to either step on or up the property ladder in Oldham are being offered a unique chance to buy through the government’s new Help to Buy - Equity Loan scheme.
Help to Buy – Equity Loan enables people to borrow 20% of the asking price from the government’s Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), and pay just a 5% deposit.
The scheme has just been introduced at The Foxgloves development in Werneth, an area currently enjoying an ambitious program of regeneration. It now means that a brand new 3, 4 and 5 bedroom contemporary home can be purchased from as little as £105,000. At just 5%, deposits will start from just £7,000. This is based on an outright sale price of £140,000.
Unlike other government-backed schemes, there is no income threshold applicable and it is not exclusively available to first time buyers.
The homes are being sold by Plumlife, the affordable homes experts and government-appointed Help to Buy Agency for Greater Manchester.
The Foxgloves is part of the exciting £118m Gateways to Oldham regeneration master plan, set to transform five neighbourhoods in Oldham in to truly desirable, vibrant and diverse places to live and work. This unique project is being carried out by Inspiral Developments Oldham (IDO).
Homes have been thoughtfully designed to offer flexible living spaces, allowing for either open-plan or separate living/dining rooms on the ground floor, and boast generously proportioned bedrooms, making them perfect for larger families. They offer stunning contemporary fitted kitchens with stainless steel oven and hob extractor, crisp modern bathrooms, private front and back gardens and allocated parking.
To help keep utility costs down, there are lots of superb energy-saving features built in, including solar roof panels, top-notch insulation, ultra-efficient boilers and high quality double-glazing. Eco-features like these help to dramatically reduce energy bills.
Plumlife Head of Sales, Lisa Westerman said: “We’re delighted to be offering the Help to Buy scheme at this fantastic development. We’ve had a lot of interest from buyers, and the feedback has been really positive. But deposits continue to be a major barrier for lots of buyers, and this scheme will address that issue.”
