Shared ownership and the service charge myth!

04/06/2010 14:11:33

Plumlife, part of the Manchester based Great Places Housing Group, is supporting a national campaign to promote shared ownership in the run up to the next election.

Twenty of the largest providers of low cost home ownership in the country have joined forces to urge MPs of all parties to support the building of more shared ownership properties.

Part of this campaign involves dispelling some of the myths surrounding shared ownership and today Plumlife deputy chief executive Matthew Harrison tackles the notion shared ownership is only for key workers.

Matthew said: "Service charges are never going to be popular. It is a balancing act between not charging too much and not charging too little to be able to provide a decent service.

"Housing associations have a very good record as housing managers compared to the large majority of private sector property management companies.

"We also have a commitment to continuously improving our services and the quality of what we do is properly monitored and regulated by government agencies. Again, the same cannot be said of many private property management companies."
