It’s as though it was meant to be for Alex, to buy the house he now owns on Plumlife’s Foxwood development in Salford.
After discovering the property online, the 27-year-old senior fraud analyst enquired, viewed and reserved the property, all on the same day.
And despite a global pandemic slowing the process down, he’s very happy to have left ‘Generation Rent’ to become a homeowner.
After years of renting in and around Central Manchester, he moved back in with his parents for a year so he could save for a deposit and then took the plunge with Plumlife in Salford.
He said: “I’d moved around a bit but I really wanted a place of my own so I moved back in with my parents to allow me to save for a deposit.
“I saw the property on the website as someone else had cancelled, so I called Plumlife as soon as the office opened in the morning to enquire about it.
“They told me that a few people were viewing it that weekend but I knew I wanted it so I asked to view it that day. I emailed over the documentation required, arranged to view it that night and loved it so I paid the reservation fee straightaway. Quite a day!”
Alex had viewed the show home at another Plumlife development in Levenshulme, of the same house type he now has in Salford, and he was blown away by the quality of the finish and the attention to detail in the design.
He added: “I bought a two-bed house but I have so much storage, it’s fantastic.
“The design of the property is very clever. There’s a really clever use of space to ensure that not an inch is wasted. The rooms are spacious, especially the bedrooms, and it feels light and bright.
“Having another room to use as an office has been vital during the various lockdowns we’ve had to endure. It’s allowed me to differentiate between my work and home life, which has been a huge help.
“When I was living with my parents, my mum and I shared a kitchen table to work so it was very difficult at times.
“Now I have my own study to work and a house and a lovely garden to relax in.”
Alex was originally due to get the keys to his new home in March 2020, but everything was put back due to the pandemic and eventually moved house in July. Plumlife, and sales advisor Michelle in particular, was with him every step of the way.
“They say that moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do, but that wasn’t the case for me.
“Michelle kept me up-to-date every step of the way, made things really simple and was a pleasure to deal with.
“I’ve been so impressed with Plumlife and the Help to Buy scheme that I’ve encouraged a friend of mine to view another Plumlife development in Middleton as he’s looking to buy as well.
“I love being a homeowner after such a long time and I love my home. I’m so happy to have finally got a foot on the property ladder.
“I can make the place my own without worrying about what the landlord is going to say, and I’m making an investment in my future rather than wasting money on renting.
“It’s somewhere I can call home and make a future in an area really on the up.”
