Find out how Suzanne and Daniel found their dream home, thanks to Plumlife Homes and Shared Ownership.

Getting a rung on the property ladder can seem like an unnerving prospect sometimes, especially when you have a busy family life that takes up your time. But the process can be much easier than you might think, as Suzanne, 35, and Daniel, 41 found out!

The couple swapped their two-bed, privately-rented duplex apartment with no garden, for a three-bed home with a huge outdoor space, as they used Shared Ownership to get their feet onto the property ladder.

This move also meant their daughters could have their own bedrooms and a place to play safely, as the family threw down some roots in an area with all the amenities the family needed.

Suzanne said: “We wanted our daughters to have their own bedrooms, an outdoor place to play and to be local to shops and activities for them.

“We privately rented for a while and while we were planning for a family in our previous rental, we decided soon after the arrival of our two children that the house was not suitable.

“It had a flight of concrete steps to the property and I was concerned for their safety, and we didn’t have a garden for them to play in either.”

So, when the couple came upon Carding Gardens on the Plumlife website, they immediately liked what they saw and decided to visit the show home, hoping they would find a place to live, that was safe and big enough for their family. Thankfully, they found just that!

Suzanne added: “We were very impressed with the overall build and the quality of built-in kitchen and bathroom. The downstairs toilet is a bonus, something else that we didn’t have in rented accommodation, and will help significantly with potty training.”

The couple bought a 50 percent share in their new home with the intention of staircasing to 100 per cent. By purchasing a 50 percent share, the couple were able to afford a home that they wouldn’t have been able to, if they’d purchased a home outright on the open market.

Continuing, Suzanne said: “Shared ownership helps people get onto the property ladder for properties they wouldn’t necessarily be able to obtain a mortgage for.

“It feels great to be able to invest in our own equity and to have something to call our own.”

With the buoyant housing market and more people working from home, Plumlife has seen a high demand from people just like Suzanne and Daniel. Could you be the next person to benefit from Shared Ownership? Head to the search bar to find all of our currently available homes!
